SPOKANE, Wash. -

On Thursday, KHQ obtained surveillance video of the moments leading up to and after the fatal stabbing attack at the STA Plaza last Saturday.

In the video captured just inside the atrium, the victim, identified as 49-year-old Sean Oie, can be seen walking in an entrance of the plaza with an unknown woman at about 3:30 in the afternoon. The two are taking a look at a directory as the suspect, 40-year-old Donald Phillips walks in the same entrance 17 seconds later.

With his hands in his pockets, Phillips walks around, eventually out of view of the camera before circling back around Oie.

As he walks up behind him he pulls a knife from his pocket and strikes Oie once in the upper body knocking him backwards.

Another camera catches Phillips as he continues to pursue Oie.

Finally, Oie backs up against a pillar before collapsing. Phillips puts the knife back in his pocket before as he slowly walks away.

Earlier this week KHQ spoke to Donald Phillips following his arrest and he admitted to the stabbing, but told us he was seeking justice.

"I wished I would've kept my anger, but this time it was something that I felt needed to be done to send a message in Washington state about the sex offenders in this state. No one's doing anything about it," Phillips said in that interview.

KHQ looked into Sean Oie's criminal background, and found it to be extensive. However, Oie does not have any sex offenses.
