Cruising In The Fast Lane? Expect A Ticket

SPOKANE, Wash. -

We’ve all been stuck behind the driver in the fast lane and if we’re being honest, we’ve probably been them. But if you’re using the left lane for anything but passing, Washington State Patrol says expect a ticket.

It’s actually illegal to cruise in the fast lane on any road with two or more lanes going the same direction in Washington because it blocks emergency vehicles and also leads to road rage with drivers passing dangerously on the right. If you get caught you could take home a $124 dollar ticket.

KHQ went along with Trooper Tom Shirey to see just how big of a problem “left lane cruisers” really are.

    ATHOL, Idaho - The storm that ripped through the Inland Northwest on Wednesday not only interrupted the fun at Silverwood Theme Park for a while, it also did some major damage to Silverwood's RV park across Highway 95.

Several RVs and cars were damaged due to falling branches and trees. Only one injury was reported, and it was a very minor knee injury.Multiple crews were called into to remove the downed trees.
