Lackman Murder Trial Begins Tuesday in Butte

Posted: Updated:
BUTTE - A Butte man accused of murder will go on trial Tuesday morning.

24-year-old Jeffery Lackman is charged with deliberate homicide after court documents say he shot Mark Partelow in the face during a fight at a residence on Casey st. last August.

Butte police responded to Partelow's home on Casey st. around 11 p.m. on August 5 to find him lying in the street with a gun shot wound.

Partelow later passed away at St. James Hospital.

Documents filed say Lackman was smoking methamphetamine behind the "M" in Butte earlier in the night and got into a dispute with Partelow over Partelow's girlfriend.

Lackman denied the charges and entered a not guilty plea in September.

If convicted, he could face life in prison.
