KHQ.com - A sunbather on a small island off Germany had quite the scare when a small plane just narrowly missed him in a low landing.

Rainer Schmidt who captured the video of the near tragedy that occurred on the island of Dune in the Heligoland Archipelago.

“It was me that was flying and I am really sorry,” pilot Juergen Drucker, 52, told the MailOnline on Monday. “I have to say, as the pictures show, that it wasn’t one of my greatest achievements in the cockpit.”

Another beach goer Uwe Kaiser said, “The man who was almost hit was lying down and he turned over to look after seeing the plane coming and then instantly flung himself down in the sand as it crossed over him. It really was a close shave.”

The man who was nearly struck was a little shaken up, but otherwise okay.
