Posted: Updated:
Former Lake City softball standout Casey Stangel is transferring to the University of Washington.

Stangel announced her decision to transfer from the University of Missouri on Saturday night via Twitter. She will likely lead the Washington pitching staff, which graduated its top two starters.

Stangel went 15-10 last season as a freshman. She carried a 3.27 ERA and struck out 83 batters as the Tigers' number two starting pitcher.

Stangel was the 2013 MaxPreps National Softball Player of the Year.
