PULLMAN, Wash. – A four-run fourth inning lifted No. 21 Arizona State to a 6-3 victory over host Washington State in Pac-12 Conference baseball,Sunday.

With the victory, the Sun Devils (33-22, 19-11 Pac-12) clinched third place in the Pac-12 and expect to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship when the 64 teams are announced, Monday.

After the Cougars (24-30, 14-16) spotted the Sun Devils a run in the first, they tied the game in the home half of the second. Yale Rosen and Ben Roberts singled to open the inning against Darin Gillies (3-4). Ian Sagdal followed with a bunt single and Rosen scored when the throw to first was dropped for an error.

Arizona State broke the tie with four runs, two earned, on four hits to chase Tanner Chleborad (4-7) in the fourth. The Cougars closed within 5-3 in the fifth on Yale Rosen’s fifth homer of the season, a two-run shot off the flag pole beyond the right field wall.

The Sun Devils added an insurance run in the ninth off reliever Matt Bower, who was making a Cougar single-season record 31st appearance of the season. Ryan Burr pitched the ninth for his 12th save.
