PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State pounded out 15 hits and the Cougars knocked off No. 21 Arizona State 10-7, Saturday at Bailey-Brayton Field.

The Cougars (24-29, 14-15 Pac-12) broke on top with two runs in the third and added eight runs in the fourth inning for a 10-0 lead. Eight of the 10 runs were charged to Arizona State (32-22, 18-11) starter Ryan Kellogg (8-3).

Collin Slaybaugh staked Washington State to a 1-0 lead with an RBI-double in the Third and Nick Tanielu added a run-scoring single in the frame. The Cougars send 13 men to the plate while chasing Kellogg after 3 1/3 innings.

P.J. Jones led off with a single and moved to third on a double by Patrick McGrath. Cameron Frost singled to plate Jones. Luke Stratman followed with a bunt single to score McGrath for a 4-0 lead. Trace Tam Sing moved the runners to second and third and Slaybaugh brought them both home with a double to right. Michael Monda drove Slaybaugh home with a double to end Kellogg’s afternoon.

A ground out by Tanielu moved Monda to third and Yale Rosen walked to put runners at the corners. Jones, McGrath and Frost delivered consecutive, RBI-singles to cap the rally and make the score 10-0.

In the fifth, the Sun Devils scored five times and knocked Cougar starter Jason Monda out of the game before he could get to the necessary five innings in order to qualify for the victory. Arizona State added an unearned run in the sixth against Kellen Camus (6-1). The victory for Camus was the 13th of his career in relief to tie the Washington State school record.

In the eighth, the Sun Devils picked up a run and had two runners on before Ian Hamilton recorded the final four outs for his 15th save to extend his school record. He is the Pac-12 leader and tied with Bryan Garcia of Miami (Fla.) for the national lead among freshmen.
