SPOKANE, Wash. -

What was initially a heartbreaking story now has a happy ending. Two 6-month-old Yorkie pups were stolen from a Spokane Valley apartment complex on Monday and police have now arrested the man they say is responsible. But guess where the suspect was found? Laramie, Wyoming!

"Peanut" and "Raider" were playing in the courtyard at their owner's apartment in Spokane Valley when they were taken. Christina Meyer, who owns the pups, said she turned her back for just a few minutes and they were gone. Meyer asked a neighbor to help look for the dogs.

The neighbor was confronted by a man as she was walking around calling the dogs names. The man replied "I want $100 for them or I'm sending them to the pound." That neighbor, Brietta D'Amore tells KHQ the man read her the information from the dogs collar and asked for the money before he would give back the dogs.

Well that man has now been caught and we now know his name. 37-year-old Cory Robert Challgren was arrested on Tuesday in Laramie, Wyoming. The Laramie Police Department had received information that Challgren was in the area and had two stolen pups from Spokane with him. A family member of Challgren saw the story on KHQ and alerted police Challgren was in Wyoming with the dogs.

Challgren was located just after 5pm on Tuesday and arrested on charges of Driving Under the Influence (Second Offense), Driving Under Suspension, Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, and Wrongful Taking of Property.

An Animal Control Officer responded and two Yorkie puppies that were in the vehicle were transported to the Animal Shelter for safe keeping. Meyer who owns the pups went to Wyoming and picked them up Thursday night.
