Blaz's Wife Takes Stand on Day 2 of Trial

Posted: Updated:

Day two of the Matthew Blaz trial saw more witness testimony on the stand, including Matthew’s wife, the mother of the two month old baby who passed away.

The morning started with prosecutors calling up Jennifer Blaz, Matthew Blaz's wife and the mother of their two-month old baby, Mattisyn.

Mattisyn passed away last August, allegedly killed by her father.

Tuesday, Mattisyn's mother discussed the day Mattisyn passed away, leading up to the moment they were in the car and realized her baby had stopped breathing.

"Right when we got back into the car she took a couple breaths and took her last one,” said Jennifer Blaz. “We had just pulled out so I told Matt just to stop and call 9-1-1."

According to court documents, Mattisyn suffered severe injuries like a skull fracture and may have allegedly sat with those injuries for hours.

Records say Matthew Blaz told police a neighborhood boy may have dropped the baby earlier that day.

Following Jennifer Blaz's testimony, law enforcement officials who worked on the case were called to the stand.
