An election re-count confirms Bridger Canyon Fire Chairman Mike Conn is recalled.
Gallatin County Commissioners hand counted ballots on Friday after unofficial results showed Mike Conn was recalled by one vote. The recount confirmed 195 people voted to recall Conn while 194 did not.
The other four board members, Colleen Carnine, Margaret Foster, Dennis Guentzel and Dave McKee were not recalled.
The Bridger Canyon Fire District Safety Coalition initiated the recall. They say the trustees routinely tried to limit public comment at meetings, interrupted audience members and had several unannounced meetings.
"I feel like the coalition has been justified and what they have been working very hard to do," said John Malony, BCFD Safety Coalition. "I hope that all the fire fighters that left will be able to come back."
Conn was not available for comment. Applications are now being accepted to fill Conn's position on the board.
The vacant seat will then be determined by the county board.
