Butte Police Arrest Two for Robbery

Posted: Updated:

Two Montana natives are behind bars in the Butte-Silver Bow County Jail for allegedly attempting to rob a man with the use of a knife.

Sheriff Ed Lester says the two suspects approached a man sitting in a car on Pinion Street Tuesday afternoon when they allegedly pulled out a knife, punched the victim, and demanded money and a laptop.

Lester says the victim was able to grab the suspect's arm and drive away from the suspects.

Both suspects fled the scene and were found at the Town Pump casino on Dewey Boulevard.

"They were both taken into custody at the smoker's area of the casino and subsequently interviewed,” said Sheriff Ed Lester. “They have admitted culpability in the incident."

The suspects arrested in the incident were 21-year-old Joseph Cantrell from Missoula and 20-year-old Bradley Jackson from Butte.

Lester says Cantrell was the suspect who allegedly pulled out the knife.

Both men are being charged with felony robbery.
