Students Attend Annual Farm Fair

Posted: Updated:
One in five jobs in Montana are tied to agriculture. This week thousands of fourth grade students are learning about farming and how important the industry is to Montana.

Paige Taylor is one of the hundreds of fourth graders who attended this year's farm fair at Brainard Ranch. She said farming is an industry she grew up around and she hopes someday to make it her career.

"Ever since I was little I've wanted to do stuff with animals," said Paige Taylor. "When I was really little I wanted to be a pig farmer then I just wanted to be a farmer, now I want to be a rancher."

She said animals is what made her love farming.

"I like the fact that you can be around animals all the time and that's your job and being with animals just makes me happy," said Paige Taylor.

The Gallatin Valley Farm Fair provides students the opportunity to learn about the farming industry.

"They are learning all the different things there is to know about farming", said Carrie Taylor, Farm Fair Organizer.

The kids had the chance to visit 16 stations and learn from the experts.

"Anytime we can educate and learn about agricultural it is good for us," said Carrie Taylor.

And for Paige she loves anything to do with animals.

"We get to milk the cows, we can learn about them and we can like pet them," said Paige Taylor.

This was the 10th annual Gallatin Valley Farm Fair.
