KHQ.COM - This Throwback Thursday is sort of a double  throwback. This is a story we ran in 1989 looking back on Expo '74. However, we have taken another look back at Expo '74 as it has now been 40 years since the World's Fair came to Spokane. KHQ has made a documentary about the event that put Spokane on the map and changed our history.     UPDATE: The Carlton Complex is now the largest wild land fire ever to burn in the State of Washington. The perimeter of this fire is more than 100 miles long. The total acreage burned is 250,136 acres (391 square miles). A total of 2,542 firefighters and support personnel are assigned to the incident. The fire is 16% contained.

    SEATTLE (AP) - President Obama has declared an emergency in Washington because of wildfires burning the past two weeks. The declaration Wednesday authorizes the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security to coordinate disaster relief and help state and local agencies with equipment and resources.
