Powell County Softball Brings the Confidence

Posted: Updated:

The Lady Warden softball team is coming off two big time wins over Eureka on Monday. As the season winds down, Coach Starr likes where her group stands.

"The girls feel like we can be at the top of the pack. The games that we've lost have been short comings. We haven't had a full team the times we've fell short and the girls are excited," said head coach Cheryl Starr.

Powell County has two huge games Friday at home versus power house Florence Carlton. Coach Starr has done her homework on the Falcons.

"They've always been very competitive I watched them at the Frenchtown tournament wrote down a few things. They're aggrressive on the bases having Dani Walker behind the plate definitely holds them back on their stealing. They like to bunt a lot. Lefty slappers," said Coach Starr.

"We just got to go out there and do what we know we can do not take any risks that we shouldn't just play as hard as we can," said senior catcher Michele Christnacht.

"We can tell when we're on when we're on and hitting well and then there's some times when we need to pick it up usually we find a way to do so but we're just going to give it our all when we meet up with Florence," said Dani Walker.

Coach Starr says her team is peaking at the right time.

"Every year we do this we build up and prepare for the end of the season and so I think their confidence is up there we believe we can be in the top 4 and go to state," said Starr.
