BLOOMSDAY 2014: Rehab For Your Body

SPOKANE, Wash. -

During the annual Bloomsday run, there are always a couple injuries, some more serious injuries. Bloomsday 2014 was no different. One person had a cardiac arrest on the course, another suffered a heart attack, and still another had a heart attack. Amazingly, none of the three died. There was also 13 other medical injuries that were not as serious. Many people running were sore all day today, or had pain in their joints. There are a couple things you can do at home to make you feel better.

If your knees or other joints are in pain, use the acronym R.I.C.E. to help you out. The R stands for rest. Rest your body about 24 hours after the run. The I is for ice. Ice your joints 10-20 minutes per hour. Compression is the next thing. Take a flexible bandage and wrap it around your knee. The last letter is for elevation.

If you are just plain sore, drink lots of water and eat healthy! There are things you can use at home that will make your muscles even better. Take a tennis ball, or a rolling pin, and use that to massage the parts that are sore!

    SPOKANE, Wash. - Troopers are investigating an auto-ped fatal crash on I-90 eastbound near mile post 280. A 59 year old man was crossing I-90 when he was hit by a pick up truck. He died on the scene. Police say the driver does not appear at fault and don't believe drugs or alcohol played a factor.

    TWISP, Wash. (AP) - The Okanogan County Sheriff says the Carlton Complex wildfire has many more homes than previously thought. Sheriff Frank Rogers said Friday that the Carlton Complex fire has consumed about 300 homes this month. His office previously placed the number at 150, but he said then he knew it would rise.
