MSU's Worthington Arena Getting an Upgrade

Posted: Updated:
The Brick Breeden Fieldhouse will experience a 3.2 million dollar up grade this May. A new running surface, upgrade seating, new sound system, and venue curtains are some of main additions. MSU Director of Athletics Peter Fields is ready for the changes.

"We're really excited. It's tremendous. Our track program is getting a new running surface. Our basketball teams are getting new seating and sound," said Fields.

Fields says the fan experience will be enhanced.

"The combined seating of moving the seating down and getting the fan closer to the game is going to be really important," said Fields.

Why were these changes necessary?

"The floor was deteriorating so we got we're taking care of that and our track program if you ever came to an indoor track meet you saw that we put up bank turns in our wooden track we're not going to have to do that now," said Fields.

Fields says these changes will help recruiting.

"You bring an athlete in and the venue is new it looks new. Young people like new things that's the harsh reality," said Fields.

The Fieldhouse will still remain historic.

"You're not alternating the style of the building You still have the iconic Fieldhouse it was built in the 1950s it's a tremendous building," said Fields.
