Montana Tech Head Coach Chuck Morrell wanted all his players for Spring practice. Classes got in the way for some in the afternoon, so on Wednesdays the start time was 6..... 6 am.
"It's great for us man. We get everybody here. That's a critical factor for us. It gives us a chance as coaches to evaluate and get ready for the next practice," said head coach Chuck Morrell.
"I love it the great thing is you get guys up. We train all Spring in the morning so guys are used to it. The great thing about it as Montana Tech is a high academic school we do have some class conflicts in the Spring and the Fall. So it allows are guys to have the whole team at practice in the morning can get a lot of work done. We do about an hour and a half we get in get out and the guys enjoy that," said defensive coordinator BJ Campbell.
Coach Campbell says the players embrace the morning practices. They get going really early.
"We're always trying to get that edge so our guys bring it every morning. That's the great thing is they could sleep in and show up late but we practice at 6 and we got guys at 5:30 warming up ready to go," said Campbell.
So will the 6 am practices continue for Springs to come?
"It will there's no doubt it worked out so well this Spring that we're going to go into the Fall and keep that same mind frame," said Morrell.
"Oh yeah as a coach it's a great thing get here in the morning get a lot of stuff done allows us to evaluate the film in the afternoon and continue to move forward throughout the rest of our day," said Campbell.
