Bozeman beat Butte last night seven to two. Junior short stop Sydney Stites says everything was clicking for the team.
"I think it brought a greater positive attitude to the team. It felt really awesome that everyone on the team really wanted to win. We were hitting awesome and our defense was doing well to. It just gives us a boost of mental confidence," says junior Sydney Stites.
"Good to get our first conference win. Quality opponent. That was good that we played well versus a quality opponent. It gives the girls some confidence we had that early win versus Helena High," said head coach Troy Hostetler.
Before the game versus the bulldogs, Bozeman was coming off a tough loss to Great Falls. But coach Hostetler says that result did not factor in to their effort vs Butte.
"Coming off Great Falls we struggled in that first game especially we didn't come ready to play. They stayed determined. We got down 2-0 early in that first inning. They just kept playing," said Hostetler.
Winning is contagious. Stites says that a win like this can give them the confidence to go up against anyone throughout the season.
"It just helps us believe that we can win against other teams and I think we definitely will be a lot father along this year and it's really awesome," said Stites.
"If we play well, we can compete with people. If we don't play well we're not going to beat anybody," said Hostetler.
