Griz Baseball Fundraiser to Support Former Griz Player

Posted: Updated:

Griz Head Baseball Coach Ryan Sharkey grew up with former Griz Linebacker Cole Lockwood.  When he heard Cole had been diagnosed with cancer he wanted to do something to support his friend.

So this weekend when the Griz play Montana State at Ogren Park, a silent auction will be held with the benefits going to Lockwood.

Some of the items include a signed jersey by Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard, a signed baseball from Ken Griffey Jr., and a signed flag from Phil Mickelson.

"My first thought was Cole wouldn't want us to dwell on his cancer he would want us to get tough and fight for it and that's what were doing. It's been a great community effort and obviously we are using our game and our venue but there have been tons of people asking what can they do, how can they help and can I donate this or that. So it's really been a great community effort and I'm thankful and happy that we have such great people in this town and it should be a great day tomorrow," said Sharkey.
