Today was National Letter of Intent signing day in the softball world, the new Grizzly softball team signed their first Montana native.
Dani Walker of Deer Lodge became the first recruit to commit to the Grizzlies from the Treasure State
She joins three other players that committed on signing day: Mackenzie Kutzke (Los Alamitos, California), McKenzie Phillips (Riverside, California), and Madison Saacke (Los Alamitos, California)
Walker, a multi-sport star for the Wardens, was an all conference first-teamer for the Lady Wardens basketball team that took fourth at State..and has been a three-time all-state selection at catcher in softball.
Head Coach Jamie Pinkerton says he's glad to have a Treasure State commit in the class, "We always want the Montana kids because they grow up all-be-it a Bobcat or a Griz, you don't have to teach them that tradition. When you have players from Montana that grow up wanting to be a part of the Griz program, it's like you cut them open and it's maroon and silver. All these young ladies will pick up on the Griz tradition, but it seems like with an in-state kid, or a native it hits home quicker, and they're more fired up."
