Sophomore cornerback Xavier Marsden is from La Mirada California, right outside Los Angeles. The city boy says he loves being in Butte.
"It's been good. Coming from a big city to a small town definitely standing out but I tell you what I'm definitely fitting in. I really like it here and Butte Montana is definitely home," said Xavier Marsden.
He made the move because of his passion for the game.
"Football is everything to me. Football is all I do. Football is all I care about I love it. Hard work dedication coming out of junior college in California and this is what I want to do in life," said Marsden.
Xavier is so good, because of his speed. His head coach and defensive coordinator love how he fits in with the schemes.
"He can run there's no doubt about that. He works hard mentally to learn the scheme. His positive attitude it just comes out every day it's a fresh start and loves to get after it," said head coach Chuck Morrell.
"He runs like a 4.5 forty off the field but on the field the big thing is he translates that to playing fast on the field which is really good it's what we ask out guys to do," said defensive coordinator BJ Campbell.
Even though Xavier is from Southern California, he embraces the Montana cold.
"Especially being out here from Montana coming here from LA definitely got to show how tough you are, no sleeves," said Marsden.
"I challenged him the first day he got out here and I said hey man I gotta see if you're mentally tough and he has shown he's mentally tough and routinely wears sleeves not matter what the weather is and he's embraced being part of the community and you ask him where he's from and he's going to say I'm from Butte," said Morrell.
