Butte-Silver Bow Submits Proposal for Manufacturing Hub

BUTTE -

Butte-Silver Bow officials officially submitted a proposal to become one of twelve locations throughout the United States to be the home of a major manufacturing hub.

Chief Executive Matt Vincent says the county's proposal for a hub was submitted to the federal government on Monday.

The finalized proposal highlighted why the region would be a great place for manufacturing.

Vincent says the proposal focused on natural resource availability.

The federal government will review more than 70 proposals submitted by cities across the country before making a final decision on where the hubs will be placed.

"It makes perfect sense," Vincent said. "Butte is the Mining City and Montana is the Treasure State, so for us to focus on what our namesake and what our strong points are is really well documented in the proposal we put forward."

Vincent says he is not positive when a final decision from the federal government could be made.

He suspects the decision could come as early as May.
