SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Spokane Valley firefighters were able to locate, provide medical treatment, and bring a teenage girl out from a hiking trail in Dishman Hills Friday evening.

911 originally received the call just after 6:00pm that a teen was injured at an unknown location in the Dishman Hills area. Firefighters were told she had an ankle injury and a potential dislocated knee and she was unable to hike out. Not knowing exactly where the teen was, two of her friends hiked out to meet firefighters so they could take them back to their friend. About an hour after receiving the call, firefighters found her and she was carried out and transported to a local hospital. We are told she is in stable condition.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department strongly recommends that if you are hiking on local trails to at least carry a whistle, cell phone, water, compass, multiple layers of clothing and a portable light. It is also important, as demonstrated in this case, to hike with a partner in the event of an injury.
