SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - There's no use crying of spilled milk, but it might get you arrested.

Earlier this week, Spokane Valley Deputies were called to a convenience store on E. Sprague after a man was walking around yelling that he had lead poisoning and began pouring out soda inside the store.

It didn't stop at the soda either. When Deputy Tom Walker arrived at the store, he saw man, 24-year-old Steven D. Devitt Jr. pouring a half-gallon of milk all over himself. Despite being covered in milk, Deputy Walker was able to detain Devitt Jr. without incident.

The clerk told deputies Devitt entered the store and immediately began yelling that he had lead poisoning. The clerk said he thought Devitt was high on drugs because he was sweating and acting very erratic. The clerk said Devitt then took a soda from the cooler and brought it to the counter, but rather than pay for it, Devitt opened the soda and began pouring it on the counter and floor. It was at this time the clerk called 911.

Deputies found a substance that tested positive for meth on Devitt, and a small box containing some drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. During their investigation, deputies also received a report that Devitt broke a windshield of someone's car at a nearby grocery store. That victim declined to press charges.

Devitt was booked into the Spokane County Jail for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and misdemeanor charges of Theft and Malicious Mischief.
