ABC ALL-STAR: Griz Heptathlete Lindsey Hall

Posted: Updated:

"She's just naturally gifted.  She is just so explosive and fast, and her technique is so good in so many areas, and one of the fiercest competitors I've had." says Griz Multi-Events coach Adam Bork of senior heptathlete Lindsey Hall.

Lindsey Hall is gifted when it comes to track and field...but luck hasn't been on her side, because the last several years she's been hampered by minor injuries affecting her performance, but so far in her senior year, she's been healthy.

"It's huge, because she's able to go through giving 100% in every event, and not have to worry about backing off, and possibly saving herself, and not getting hurt.  Now she can attack it 100% fully, and that's going to promote some huge marks for her," says head track coach Brian Schweyen.

"it's been really exciting, and a blessing for me to have my health this year.  I've just been trying to encourage others to take care of themselves as well," says the senior stand-out Hall.

One thing Hall has done this season, is extended training in addition to her normal track practice schedule.

"To be good, you have to do the things outside of the track and field facility and outside the weight-room.  It's when you're in your dorm, those are the things that make you great, and those are the things she's really starting to get a grasp of, and spending more time on, and you can see it definitely is paying off," says Schweyen.

"It's kind of interesting to me, because in hind-sight, I remember being a sophomore and junior and looking at the seniors who did all the extra work, and I thought it was overboard.  For me to understand now that those things all come together to keep me healthy and keep me a competitive athlete, I think that's an important step that I came to realize a little too late, but hopefully not," adds Hall.

Hall has already topped herself, breaking her personal record in the multi-events last week at the Montana State Invitational, her score of 5,424 is the 9th best in big sky conference history and puts her in the top ten nationally now...even with her personal accolades, Lindsey is all about team.

"She's a great leader, she's a hard worker.  She's always there cheering for the other athletes, and getting them to do their best, and train their hardest.   It's going to be a really hard position to fill, we're going to miss her for sure, but she's got one more outdoor season left, but she's more of a leader now than she has been," says Bork.
