Realtors Working to Fill Missoula Mercantile

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

Realtors are working to fill the second floor of the Missoula Mercantile before they move forward with its renovation.

The Merc, which formerly housed Macy's, closed its doors back in 2010 as part of a major historic tax credit project.

The building has been gutted and cleared of asbestos an lead over the past few years.

Now, realtors have to lease at least 15,000 square feet on the second level to a creditworthy tenant.

"That will make the folks who are providing the funds for the project more comfortable about the overall scope of the project," said Jed Dennison, Zillastate Realtor for The Merc.

The first floor will include retail and services, like restaurants, while the second and third floors will be professional office space.

Realtors said about half of building's square footage has already been claimed by businesses via letters of intent.
