Belgrade Softball Motivated for State

Posted: Updated:

Belgrade Softball has a chip on it's shoulder. In 2011 and 2012 the Panthers placed 2nd at State. Last season Belgrade did not place in the top 3. But this year's team has a lot of girls that can contribute to their post season goals.

"This is the deepest team we've had in Belgrade since I've been coaching here. Lots of players with the potential to be varsity contributors," said head coach Justin Taylor.

"Having as much success as we do and having 7 senior and 5 juniors that's a lot of experience and the more experience a team has the better they're going to do so we do have experience in the depth that we have," said infielder Taylor Salsbury.

Even going back to last year's regular season......not winning the Central A outright motivates the Panthers to get back to where they once were.

"Losing the conference last year it was a little bit of a wake up call cause we've been the conference champions for so long that it really did wake us a up a little bit and we had divisionals to take conference back and it really was an eye opener," said Salsbury.

"We all want that. We were there we were so close and so we all taste it and I feel like that's going to push us that much further this year and we all are working really well together and we all talked and us senior that's what we want this year," said senior outfielder Autumn Rollins.

"Finally lost conference games and didn't even win the regular season conference title. That's a pretty big motivator for us we want to get back on track with that," said Taylor.
