Former Griz Player Denies Federal Drug Charges

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

A former Griz basketball player denies federal allegations that he illegally obtained prescription narcotics.

Kevin Criswell pleaded not guilty to two felony charges of conspiracy to obtain and acquiring hydrocodone and oxycodone in Billings Federal Court yesterday.

While not much is known about the case, U.S. Attorney Michael Cotter says, through court documents, that between January 2011 and August 2012, Criswell and another man, Cale Handran, both tried and managed to get ahold of the prescription pain killers by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception and subterfuge.

The alleged crimes occurred in Scobey.

Handran, who faces the same set of felony charges, also pleaded not guilty.

Hydrocdone and oxycodone are both Schedule II controlled substances and both counts against Criswell and Handran carry maximum penalties of four years imprisonment, $250,000 fine and three years supervised release.

Both Handran and Criswell have one month make a plea with prosecutors.

If not, both cases will go to a jury trial that starts May 19 at 9:00 a.m.

Criswell is currently employed as a physical therapist at the Orthopedic Rehab in Kalispell.

Fellow staffers say as of today, he is still employed there.

KHQ.COM - Mid August is about the time that we start to see spiders come into our homes, particularly the hobo spider. August and September is mating season for the hobo and that means you may be seeing more funnel-like webs in and around your home. Males are on a mission to find a female which is why they are a lot more active at this time.
