KENNEWICK, WA - The largest natural disaster in the state's history may be on the west side but it is hitting close to home for many of us. Two women with ties to Kennewick and Ellensburg died in the landslide that hit nearly two weeks ago.

Scott Mathews owns Gutter Kings Construction. He's challenging all of the other businesses in the region to step up and help the victims of the Oso landslide and the emergency responders that are working tirelessly.

People on the scene are worn out. The work is tedious, dirty and oftentimes tragic in what they discover. Mathews is a local business man who wants to help. So, he started it off with $100 and over the next month, he will donate 15% of each roofing job his company does to the Red Cross.

"I'm not asking for a dime but I'm challenging that money we're putting on the table for other businesses to come forward and please, don't help Gutter Kings Construction. Help the Community of Oso. They deserve it, they need it and it's the least we can do," said Mathews.

Mathews told me he wants all the businesses in the region to step up and donate. You can do that by going to any US Bank location and saying you want to donate to the Oso efforts.

WASHINGTON - Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is complaining that Senate Democrats are holding the department's nominees "hostage" to a political agenda that includes opposition to his review of presidentially designated monuments. In a sharply worded letter to Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the Senate's No. 2 Democrat, Zinke says it's unfortunate that Democrats have placed holds on four Interior nominees.
