Brian Fish Introduced as MSU Basketball Coach

Peter Fields introduced Brian Fish this afternoon, the newest Montana State Men's head basketball coach. When asked how he plans to get the Cats back to the NCAA tournament, the Indiana native made this analogy.

"You eat the elephant one bite at a time. You break it down and you have to have some breaks. But every time I've got to the tournament it's the character of our kids," said head coach Brian Fish.

"We're pretty excited about it very excited about it. It's a fresh start for us we have to turn the page from last season, and we're just excited to get this new start," said junior center Blake Brumwell.

With this being Coach Fish's first career coaching job, he got a little emotion when describing the opportunity.

"Forty-eight years knowing there's only 350 jobs. You don't know if you'll get the chance. And when a university and President Cruzado and Peter trusted to me lead this search, it was overwhelming," said Fish.

Coach Fish wanted to make one thing clear.

"We're going to win. But we're going to get it done the right way There's going to be some ups and downs no one's career ever goes up all the time," said Fish.

New head coaches say that right after the press conference they'll recruit. That's exactly what Coach Fish is going to do.

"My biggest recruit comes in next Tuesday I'm brining my daughter out  to show her the school. She's a junior at Oregon so that'll be my first recruit to get her to commit then we'll go from there," said Fish.
