YAKIMA, WA - It took seven years of planning and hard work, but Yakima's first downtown non-profit art gallery is finally ready to open its doors.

The "Yakima Light Project" is set up inside a backroom of the Seasons Performance Center.

It features local artwork from people and organizations that helped make the gallery a reality.

Employees at The Seasons said they're excited to spice up the downtown with more art.

"We have an interest in things being downtown," said Navid Eliot. "We think the downtown is the natural hub for culture here."

The idea behind the Yakima Light Project is to celebrate the area's most famous trait, 300 days of sunshine.

The gallery is free to the public.
