Football in the mining city is back as Montana Tech started spring football at 6am this morning. Coach Morrell wants his players to be about one thing: sacrifice.
"We got to be playing for each other at all times. That's something our leadership committee came up with and that's what we're going with this Spring and that'll put us in the right direction," said head coach Chuck Morrell.
Along with sacrificing themselves for the good of the team, Coach Morrell wants his players to be closers.
"We need to know how to finish. Looking back to the 13 season lot of games we're in it in the 4th quarter and we didn't come out on the right side of the win loss column. We're really focusing on finishing every single rep every single drill that we do it's going to be a constant theme for us this entire Spring," said Morrell.
"We're all ticked off about what happened last year we know we're a lot better than that we gotta a new offense we're all excited about the new system and we're excited we know everyone is going to be doubting us so that's just fuel for our fire," said running back Pat Hansen.
The excitement level at Oredigger practice was high, partly because of the 6 am start time.
"I love it man Digs get up early we gotta hunt we gotta get up and get after it and so guys are used to operating at these hours we train at this time all Winter long and as you saw today there's great energy," said Morrell.
"It's nice and quiet and it seems like this is the only thing that's what I like about it it seems like this is right it's the only thing that's going on and once guys get woken up it's great," said Hansen .
