Out of high school, quarterback Dakota Prukop was one of the most coveted players out of Austin, Texas at the FCS level, and when people talk about his skill set, they mention one thing, athletic.
"He's a freak of an athlete, Dakota is to watch him run around and operate in the run game the quarterback run game the read game he does a great job of that what we'd like to see from Dakota this Spring is to see him coming up on his pass reads tone up on his passing location," said offensive coordinator Tim Cramsey.
"Coach Cramsey likes to do a lot of zone read and lot of quick game but he also wants to get into some deep ball plays too but one of my assets is running the ball which did a lot in high school which I'm trying to carry over," said quarterback Dakota Prukop.
"He's got good top end speed but he's also quick in and out of his cuts. He's one of the best athletes on the team, so it's going to be interesting to see what they do with him if he doesn't win this job, they got to find a spot for him on the field there's no point in having a guy that athletic, sitting on the sidelines," said Colter Nuanez.
As a person, Coach Cramsey says Prukop is full of energy.
"He can't sit still. He brings a lot of enthusiasm to the offense a lot of enthusiasm to the team. He's the type of kid where sometimes you have to tone down instead of have to pick up and I'd rather do that all the time," said Cramsey.
Prukop is competing with three other guys for the starting job. He views it like this.
"It's going to allow us to reach our full potential at quarterback and when you're competing with your friends there's nothing better it's a fun competition but don't get me wrong it's a serious competition," said Prukop.
