NPS Accepting Offers For Ten-Year Concessionaire Contract

Posted: Updated:
WEST GLACIER -

The contract to run the Granite Park and Sperry Chalets in Glacier National Park is set to expire at the end of the year.

The National Park Service is now taking offers for the ten-year contract.

Belton Chalets, Inc. has had the contract since 2005 and they say they will put in a bid again this time around.

These two chalets are the only two left in the park that give hikers a place to sleep and eat.

"They're very popular with folks that are in the back country hiking," said Denise Germann, the spokeswoman for GNP.

Proposals are due by May 19.

Germann says they should have a concessionaire picked by late fall.

Whomever they pick will take over the chalets at the start of 2015.
