Wastewater Impact Fee Hike Passes

Posted: Updated:
KALISPELL -

By just one vote, Kalispell city council moved to more than double the wastewater impact fee.

Last night, people shared their thoughts on the proposed increase.

The final vote was five to four.

From here on out, or at least until it's back under review, an average household will have to pay about $5,700 for this hook up fee alone.

That money will go towards paying for the sewage treatment plant's 2009 expansion and keeping up Kalispell's water collection system.

Council member Chad Graham says next in the impact fee lineup is the storm water impact fee.

The advisory committee will start talking about that in May.
