Bitterroot Valley Residents See More Flooding

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

Flood waters hit Ravalli County last week and residents are still scrambling to repair the damage and prepare their homes.

County officials said the flooding slowed over the weekend, but rainfall and warm temperatures led to some flooding in new areas.

They said the southern end of the Bitterroot Valley near Darby is experiencing increased flooding.

County road crews are working to repair public and private roads that were washed out last week.

"We're getting a lot of calls from fire departments saying we need more sand, we need more sandbags because people are out there with problems, and/or there are some people that are being proactive," said Ron Nicholas, Director of the Ravalli County Office of Emergency Management.

Crews are also working to clear ditches and culverts filled with debris from the flood waters across the county.
