Butte Man Dies in a One Vehicle Accident

BUTTE -

A 24-year-old Butte man died this morning after a vehicle he was in drifted off a road and landed in a sewage pond near Butte.

According to Montana Highway Patrol officials, Ryan Morris and another passenger were driving in a Chevy Blazer on Santa Claus Road when they lost control of the vehicle, rolled over an embankment, and landed hood first in sewage pond.

Trooper Mark Knutson says a 22-year-old passenger was able to kick out a window and swim to shore before being treated at St. James Hospital.

Morris was unable to do the same and was pronounced dead at the scene.

M.H.P. says alcohol was a factor.

They are still investigating to find out who was driving the vehicle.
