The Butte-Silver Bow County Commissioners decided the location of the Brincks building will be auctioned off, instead of being made into a "gateway" to Uptown Butte.
Thursday night the commissioners voted unanimously to sell the land at an auction.
The minimum bid is expected to be $50,000.
Commissioners decided to auction the location in hopes that it's purchased by a future business owner, and to drive Uptown development.
"A majority of the traffic in this town goes right by that corner," said Commissioner Bill Andersen. "So I think it has a very good opportunity for some kind of development there."
The area will be auctioned off by the county once demolition of the building is complete.
That money will go back to the county for demolition costs.
