UPDATE:
Early Thursday around 3am, deputies were called to Rimrock Road at York Court near Hayden. Two cars had driven into a large washout caused by a collapsed culvert. Deputies say the gap in the road was about 10-feet across and 8-feet deep spanning the width of the road.

Deputies say between the two cars, 3 people were transported to Kootenai Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. Rimrock Road will be closed Thursday between Lakeview Drive and Lancaster.

At least 150 people are without water in the area dues to the repairs that need to be made.

Check with KHQ for more updates.

PREVIOUS STORY:

Crews in several areas around the Inland NW and N. Idaho and working to clean up flood damage. With the expected rain Thursday, and the snow melting as quickly as it has, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch in the Spokane area. It is officially the beginning of flood season.

KHQ talked with the National Weather Service's hydrologist, Kathryn Rowden, and she said that there is the possibility that some of our rivers and streams could peak in the next week. The best chances are the Palouse River and the Little Spokane River.

Both rivers are fueled by lower elevation mountains that melt earlier in the year. For the larger rivers, the Spokane River and St. Joe River, it getaway water from higher elevation mountains, so it might take longer for those rivers to peak.
