Butte 100 Sells Out in Record Time

Posted: Updated:
BUTTE -

The Butte 100 is becoming one of the country's premier mountain bike races, and this year the race sold out in record time.

A year ago, it took four hours for 250 riders to register for the 100 mile race on the Continental Divide in Butte.

Registration lasted just 12 minutes before all the spots were taken with hundreds now on the waiting list.

Some of the top mountain bikers in the country are signed up, as the 8th year race is quickly becoming known as one of the best in the nation.

"Right now, it's on the mountain bike scene," said Gina Evans, who is the race coordinator. "It's where people want to get to. Our backyard is amazing. I tell that to everybody, and people get sick of it, but this race has grown to points where some people dream of, and dreams are being realized right now."

The race will take place on July 26.

There is also a 50 mile race.

That race sold out in just four minutes on Monday.
