Northwestern Energy: Blizzard Could Cause Power Outages

Northwestern Energy officials said the blizzard could lead to power outages and people should be prepared.

Northwestern Energy spokesmen said there's not a lot they can do to prepare power lines for extreme weather.

They are asking for the public's help during the blizzard.

If you do see a downed power line, they said to stay away from it, and call Northwestern Energy offices immediately.

Butch Larcombe, a Northwester Energy spokesman, said, "The key things that we're concerned about though with the weather we're having now is you know if we get strong winds, that's typically when we have problems with trees in lines and trees blowing over and branches getting in lines."

Officials said people should make sure to have an alternative light and heat source and extra blankets.

Call 888-467-2669 if you see a downed power line.
