Canadian Man Injured In Snowmobile Crash In West Yellowstone

Gallatin County Sheriff's Search and Rescue in West Yellowstone responded to an injured snowmobiler near West Yellowstone after a man hit a tree.

Officials responded around 11:40 a.m. Thursday to the Two Top Snowmobile Trail west of West Yellowstone.

They said a 60-year-old man from Montreal, Canada suffered head and neck injuries when he lost control of his snowmobile and crashed into a tree.

He was brought out on a rescue sled.  He was airlifted by an Air Idaho life-flight helicopter to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Gallatin County Sheriff's  Search and Rescue West Yellowstone division was assisted by Yellowstone National Park.

Sheriff Gootkin reminds people even very proficient outdoor recreationists can have bad days. He suggests everyone should be prepared for the unexpected with emergency gear and a partner.
