HAMILTON, Mont. (AP) - An autopsy found a 25-year-old man died of internal bleeding after being stomped on and prosecutors have filed charges against a Hamilton couple.
Ravalli County prosecutors are charging 25-year-old Richard Michael Sullivan with deliberate homicide in the death of Robert Thaut of Hamilton. Candace Sullivan is charged with accountability for deliberate homicide or an alternative charge of conspiracy to commit deliberate homicide. They are scheduled to make initial court appearances on Wednesday afternoon.
Court records say Candace Sullivan called 911 at 11:20 p.m. on Jan. 28 and responding officers found Thaut was dead.
An autopsy determined Thaut suffered blunt force trauma to his abdomen up to two hours earlier and could have survived with prompt medical attention.
Richard Sullivan reportedly told investigators that Thaut "sniffed" his wife, prompting the fight.
