Campus Crest Still Looking At Building In Bozeman

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

It is back to the drawing table for developers of a student housing complex after Bozeman City Commissioners denied a request to rezone 16 acres south of Montana State University.

Monday night city commissioners voted four to one against rezoning the area south of Opportunity Way and east of 11th Avenue from single family housing to high-density residential housing.

The proposed Campus Crest student housing complex was set to be built across the street from Morning Star Elementary.

Residents raised concerns about increased traffic and an unsafe environment for kids to walk to school.

Now, Campus Crest developers said now they are looking at other options in Bozeman.

"Our company has a real strong desire to be in Bozeman," said Alex Eyssen, Campus Crest Vice President of Development. "There are a lot of advantages with the community, the university that we find attractive and we are going to continue our efforts."

They say the plan to release other options in Bozeman sometime in the near future.
