MSU Student Killed, Four Injured in East Helena Crash

EAST HELENA -

A Montana State University student was killed and four people were seriously injured in a crash near East Helena on Sunday.

Montana Highway Patrol troopers say 22-year-old Carolyn Thompson of Eugene, Ore. was killed when an eastbound SUV tried to pass several cars on a two-lane road but collided with an oncoming car.

Trooper David Gleich says both the SUV and the oncoming car tried to swerve to avoid each other but crashed in a ditch.

Gleich says the drivers of both vehicles and two passengers in the SUV were hospitalized.
