Man Found Near Dam Featured In National News Stories

Posted: Updated:
KALISPELL -

Today we learn more about the Kalispell man who was found dead under the ice of the Missouri River at the Black Eagle Dam in Great Falls.

Graham Macker, 26, was listed as a walk-away from the Great Falls Pre-Release Center on November 14, 2013 and was wanted for escape.

Before that, a teenage Macker and his family were featured in an HBO documentary and a CBS national news piece about the rise of meth in Montana.

Apparently, he struggled with drug addiction and was in recovery after his family got him help.

"You take a kid that's a straight A student that can't even stay in a classroom now, that is more interested in numbing himself," said his mother, Wendy Macker, in the HBO documentary.

We've reached out to the Montana Meth Project, an organization that works with stories like Macker's.

They say they're working on a statement.

Macker's family declined to comment.

We'll have more about Macker's past on the Fox Montana News @ Nine.
