Missoula Undersheriff Josh Clark Announces Run For Sheriff

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

Missoula County Undersheriff Josh Clark announced he's running for sheriff at a press conference this morning.

Clark, a Democrat, has 21 years of law enforcement experience and is endorsed by Sheriff Carl Ibsen and three captains at the sheriff's office.

Clark is the second candidate to enter the race, along with fellow Democrat and Missoula Sheriff's Office Detective Sergeant T.J. McDermott, who filed for candidacy in the beginning of January.

"I believe the citizens of Missoula County deserve to have a sheriff that will uphold the laws, safeguard the public trust and hold himself and his people accountable," Clark said.

Sheriff Ibsen's term ends on December 31 of this year, and he plans to retire.

Clark announced Captain Brad Giffin would been offered the position of undersheriff, if Clark was elected as sheriff.

The deadline for primary candidates to file for office is March 10, and the general election takes place in November.
