Xanterra Gets Going

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBIA FALLS -

Glacier National Park is seeing a lot of change.

The Glacier National Park Conservancy and the Park itself has new leadership, Mark Preiss and Jeff Mow, respectively.

On top of that, the park replaced a concessionaire it's had since 1981.

While Glacier Park Inc. will stay in the Park, Xanterra Parks and Resorts will take over operations at many of the hotels and the red buses.

"I was shocked. I was employed with Glacier Park Inc. for a number of years, and so really sort of taken aback. We didn't expect that whatsoever and consequently didn't really have a contingency plan," said Marc Ducharme, manager of Xanterra's operations in Glacier National Park.

Xanterra is already setting up shop in Columbia Falls.

Ducharme says he's actually happy with the change now. We'll explain why on the Fox Montana News @ Nine.
