Valentine's Day Shooting Leaves Hungry Horse Man Dead

A 71-year-old Hungry Horse man is dead and his girlfriend is in custody, in what Flathead County Sheriff deputies say is an apparent murder.

Sheriff Chuck Curry says on Valentine's Day deputies responded to a call at a home in northwest Hungry Horse and found Thomas Eugene Edwards with a single gunshot wound to his chest.

EMS tried, but were unable to resuscitate Edwards and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies arrested Edwards' girlfriend, Pamela Ruth Haines, 55, for allegedly shooting the man following a verbal argument.

Haines is being held at the Flathead County Detention Center on an initial charge of Deliberate Homicide and formal charges are pending.
