Sen. Tester Tours Missoula Technology And Development Center

MISSOULA -

Senator Jon Tester is already preparing for the 2014 wildfire season, as he goes in to plan this year's budget. The senator toured the Forest Service Technology and Development center in Missoula on Friday.

The center is the trouble shooter for the U.S. Forest Service. It makes everything from fire retardant, to fire shelter's, everything that goes into keeping our firefighters safe.

Tester's trip comes as he gets ready to plan this years budget.

"They get a sum of money meant for service management, unfortunately over the last years half of it, maybe more, has been spent on fighting fire fighters. That's why it's important we get bills like forest jobs and recreation passed."

Tester is working to get the Forest Jobs and Recreation Bill passed. It gives firefighters the funds needed to mitigate forests to prevent a severe fire season.
